April Sky

April sky when did you change your mood?
where was I when was winter misconstrued
I ain't saying I wasn't trying to find a place to hide
I just don't think I'm ready for the green April sky
In Oklahoma, back where I am from
She calms the wind, then she brews the storm
She don't know mercy, she don't know how to cry
She don't spare nobody, she's the mean April sky
She is the tornado, she was the mighty wind
She is the tornado, she was the mighty wind
She is the road we all go up to the sky in the end
As for summer, he will come real soon
And when he enters is when she leaves the room
She don't want know conflict, and she don't need no guy
She don't need no reason for what has been the April sky
She is the tornado, she was the mighty wind
She is the tornado, she was the mighty wind
She is the road we all go up to the sky in the end

I'm no stranger to this road
that's hot as hell
I'm no stranger to this road
it knows me well
it's no place to die
but it's fine for me and I
I'm no stranger to this road
as you can tell
I'm no stranger to this road
not near or far
I'm no stranger to this road
and it's fancy cars
They kicked me out on it late last evening
when the beer was too appealing
I'm no stranger to this road
or its bars
I'm no stranger to this road
nor should you
I'm no stranger to this road
and it knows you
doesn't matter which lane
cause it's all the same
I'm no stranger to this road
We keep passing through

It's stated so simply
and so often heard
It's brewed in our veins
and flies like the birds
it runs like a river
and walks like the breeze
it rises like water
falls like the leaves
the joy that we speak of
that is born inside
the sorrow we know of
and the death of our pride
sometimes wings are broken
and the fall comes too soon
summer can be vacant
and winter have no room (for you)
so again we are broken
all love quickly fades
no wounds are healed, for anyone
only new ones made

Yet I Remain
03:17

I am a small root
growing deep beneath the earth
though I can feel the tree above
all I ever see is the dirt
I'm sure the sun dances on the limbs
I'm sure the leaves applaud themselves
just to taste the foreign winds,
to taste the fruit of ourselves
yet I remain
deep in the ground
growing further away
from the tree
taking on this water
for a plant that I'll never see
I catch the chill of the first frosting
I hear the laughter of a new spring
although some of the branches are dying
no one heard them scream
and I am one of many
who never get to see the view
unaware of what it out there
and the end we're coming to
yet I remain
deep in the ground
growing further away
from the tree
taking on this water
for a plant that I'll never see
